Fast Racing Neo is a racing game developed by Shin'en Multimedia and released in 2015. The racing game has a futuristic setting and is exclusive to the Wii U. It is often compared to Nintendo's F-Zero franchise. Fast Racing Neo is the second entry to the series, the first was Fast Racing League which was released on WiiWare for the Wii in 2011.
Gameplay
Fast Racing Neo is a third person racing game where players race anti-gravity vehicles in this incredibly fast paced arcade racing game; it challenges the reflex of players and timing is important especially on the harder tracks and on harder difficulty modes.
It demands that players manage the vehicles movement while also collecting orbs to fill the boost meter which allows the player to launch ahead of the competition for a short period of time; players also need to switch the engine color between orange and blue to match the quickly approaching boost pads that can be found strategically placed around the track. The boost pads give all racing cars a chance to pull ahead or keep up with the other fast-moving vehicles and missing one can cause cars to fall behind in the race.
Fast Racing Neo is about the player trying to reach the top of the Fast Racing League for fame and glory; there are 16 tracks to play through on various difficulties. There are tracks set in canyons, alpine peaks, futuristic cities, the ocean and more locations as well. As the tracks become harder, the AI also becomes more intelligent. Each vehicle in the game has it's own set of stats which become more noticeable in the harder difficulty modes.
Aside from the main Career Circuits there are also time trials for players to complete and a ultra-fast mirrored circuit called Hero Mode which uses different rules and has new challenges to be completed.
